Each year I try to make a special ornament for our tree. Joe’s mother had given us a yarn ball which was hand spun by his grandmother Sophie who we lost this year.
After rolling the yarn ball in glitter I soldered a charm with pictures from Joe’s childhood encased in beveled glass I had mirrored and antiqued.
Using jump rings I strung each component on hand dyed ribbon
adding a crystal charm and a sentiment on a recycled tag.
My wish is that it will be treasured and enjoyed by future generations in a more peaceful world. Happy holidays xoxo
Any mixed media artist knows how things accumulate. We are always picking up little treasures at flea markets or off the ground that catch our eye without a specific purpose in mind waiting for that moment when it becomes that special something we needed to inspire or complete a piece of art.
I recently found these wonderful large printer drawers to store my small bits.
They became works of art on their own when I randomly lined each section with scraps of vintage wallpaper, sheet music, wrapping paper and book pages.
Now my tiny treasures have a home
and more importantly I know where to find them!
